PRS-T1 Recovery mode & win10?

Hi,

my ol'sony reader has badsectors which causes unresponsive dictionary, hang after battery charge, hang after reading too many pages, hang after you name it...

To fix this with the help of wiki, I tried to get to recovery mode with unrooted device, however it just didn't. So I rooted it which went fine.

No, when I try to enter security mode (by using ebook_msc.exe), opening book stops 100%, and then just nothing happens. What I think should happen is that windows installs a driver (or I should manually update "Gadget Serial 2.4" -driver). Yellow led is blinking now and then...so maybe it's trying to do something?

There is no recognized or unrecognized devices and COM10 is not active (or any other serialport).

I have allowed my windows 10 to accept non-digital signed drivers to be installed if I need to manually install the driver.

Maybe windows 10 is not responsing properly? Or something else I'm not doing right?

EDIT: I had 32-bit pc with windows 10. It recognizes the device, however provided gadget serial driver doesn't work. Device don't start and putty of course don't connect. I tried alternative usb to serial drivers, but none worked...

EDIT2: I dug out old dusty win 7 home laptop, and yes was able to connect the device with putty BUT the instruction said to mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 and I get file not found. And I checked that, yes, dev-folder doesn't have mmcblk0p1 at all...

DPT-S1 can't get Box.com xfer to work

FWIW: my software version is 1.5.51.21130. I have wifi connectivity on the Sony. It just updated the software a few minutes ago.

Here is what I have done so far:
1. created an acct at Box.com. Access it through my desktop browser. Created a directory called SonyDPTS1. Have several pdf files in the directory.
2. On Sony I accessed:
Settings|Server Settings|Network Drive Settings|Server Settings
I get a dialog box and enter the following:
Server: https://dav.box.com/dav6766
Port: 443
Username: my username
Password: my password
Sync Folder: /Sony DPTS1
Destination Folder: /
I fill in the entries then click on OK. No complaints
3. BTW on the network drive settings page on the Sony
the Download Destination is set to Internal Memory.
Autosync is set to On

4. I go back to the Home page on the Sony. It looks the same as before. No icon to sync or download. Press the parallel lines (I think it is menu) button at bottom of Sony. It displays the time on the top menu bar but nothing else.

The manual says when autosync is on the network drive is synchronized every 90 minutes. Apparently there is nothing I can do to force a sync?? So far none of the files on my Box.com directory have been downloaded.

Can not delete, add, or factory reset

Although the older thread "PRS-T1 Can't root/un-root/use SD Rescue/boot into Recovery Console" discusses the same issues as this thread I thought I would start a new one in hopes someone has resolved these issues but might not be aware of the older thread. In my case:
As noted by others in this thread my PRS-T1 (not rooted, ver 1.0.05.11130) reads on device ebooks fine but will not delete books from the delete menu. Although it appears to make the deletions, they reappear on a power off. The same phenomenon occurs with a factory reset using the button press process. The reset looks like it is doing something but a power off and reboot shows all books still present. Same situation with a device initiated format, the reboot retains all books. Finally, connecting the PRS-T1 to a computer appears to allow books to be dragged-and-dropped (my preferred book addition method since it has always worked till now) onto the device(no uSD card in use). A reboot show no additional added books, just the original number before the attempted deletion. I tried using the Wiki discussed process for "Fix filesystem errors and bad blocks" and Putty. Running e2fsck shows no errors with /dev/mmcblk2p10, /dev/mmcblk2p6, nor /dev/mmcblk2p8 but for /dev/mmcblk2p9 I always receive the message "recovering journal; unable to set superblock flag on data". Finally, I tried the alternate superblock at 8193 on /dev/mmcblk2p9 with the same result.
Does anyone know how I might resolve the situation.

PRS-350 How to select standby image?

I'm on the latest official firmware 1.0.00.14080.

In Setting> System management,

There are three options

power management
device lock
standby screen

I have picture on / message off in the standby screen option, but there is no where to select image.

Current, standby screen is blank.

What size SD card can the Sony PRS-505 hold?

I looked through the manual, but cannot find the specifications. Does the Sony PRS-505 hold fulls-size 24 mm SD cards, 20 mm miniSD cards, or 15 mm microSD cards?

Is there a limit to how large the SD card or the Memory Stick Duo card can be? Can it handle 32, 64, and 128 GB cards?

I have been using the PRS plus on my 350, now I have the T2, I can not get the PRS plus for it.

What operating system do you recommend for the T2? Should I stick to the official one or are there better alternatives?

PRS-350 What case is this? Full-grain leather

I bought a 350 four years ago and it came with two cases, one is the sony official, made of plastic and fake thin leathery material that started to wore out after few days of usage, the other one is this seem to be a full grain leather cover, that's really thick and durable with excellent craftsmanship and material.

I recently bought another 350 in mint condition, and I want to buy the same leather case for it. But this case has no labelling or brand or anything. I am sure someone in the Sony reader community would know the maker of this case since it is such a quality case.

I need to do a recovery of a bricked PRS-T1. I know little about SD cards.

Anyone know the minimum size and recommend speed rating that should be used for this purpose?

Does the Sony PRS-505 require a special charger?

Searching on eBay, I saw some original power cables for the Sony PRS-505. These had a very small, round end, not a USB plug at the end. Will I need to buy one of these to charge a Sony PRS-505 or can I use a standard USB or MicroUSB wall charger?

Is a Sony PRS-600 cover compatible with a Sony PRS-505 cover?

I have a Sony PRS-505. The original cover is broken. While searching on eBay, I found some sellers selling original Sony PRS-600 covers, claiming they were compatible with the Sony PRS-505. These covers are the original, standard cover that comes with a Sony PRS-600, and are sold by Sony. But looking at the pictures of the boxes, I see no mention of compatibility with the Sony PRS-505.

Do you know if the Sony PRS-600 cover is compatible with the Sony PRS-505?

Problem with PRS-T3

I had a serious problem with my Sony PRS-T3. The screen is completely frozen and I have to open the device to reset it. I have check the board (visually inspection) and there is no trace of heating or water condensation).

And guess what the device work perfectly and flawlessly until I put the plastic cover on it. And again it freeze and I have to go back to square one. I have also try using some spacer before closing the device without any success.

Do you have any idea of the localization of the problem. May be a bad connector or something like that.

I need your precious help !

PRS-T2 Tweaking Calibre to show collections on Sony reader

Hi all,

I've tried to understand it but it's way over my head :blink:

Can anyone explain to me, step-by-step, how I have to set Calibre to change the way my collections are displayed on my Sony PRS-T2? At the moment it lists all my collection by author and series, I want it to only show the series.
