PRS-T3 Backgrade version software

Hi all, long time no visit here:)

Does anybody know if it is possible to downgrade the PRS-T3 firmware to a version before 1.1.01.17210 the Kobo upgrade.

I have been having problems with battery life, (changed the battery not that), and it seems to have started with the Kobo firmware upgrade.

I have heard of others with this problem but no solution.

PRS-T1 Bricked PRS-T1

Hello,

I was trying to unroot my PRS-T1, but I think I've used the wrong unroot-package for my firmware.
Now the reader isn't starting at all. The Opening Book Progress Bar remains white all the time and it is rebooting endlessly. The orange light is blinking.
I tried to solve the problem by using different restore Sets on my micro SD card without luck.
I also couldn't reach the recovery with the rescue set by rupor. The Progress Bar isn't moving.
I do not know which firmware is on the PRS-T1, I only know that the Kobo Book store was allready installed.
I hope someone can help me to bring the Reader back to life.

PRS-T3 possible to roll back firmware ??

I've posted a query in the main Sony thread, but thought it may be more appropriate here, including more details.

Does anyone know if it is possible to reinstall (roll back) the T3 firmware or even to force a reinstall of the latest in case it is a bug. Was there never an after-market version of the firmware?

I have a battery life problem which is not the battery, replaced with new and tested both new and original on an Imax digital charger. Both show full capacity on several charge and discharge cycles so the problem is in the reader somewhere.

The problem appeared around the time of the last firmware update, (1.1.01.17210). The battery self discharging in a couple of days even when fully, completely, shut down.

I've tried all the obvious, reformat, WiFi off / forgotten, reset, full factory reset, etc. left it battery disconnected overnight.

I see the Sony website no longer lists the T3 in the support pages, though all other earlier models are there.

Sony have been as helpful as always - i.e. Not at all.

Thanks on bended knee to anyone with a solution.

PRS-950 Sony eReader PRS-950 cant use browser

When I try to connect to a new router i get a message that says the router requires a password to connect. it says to go to Apps and select the browser to enter the password.

When I do that a message appears about "Loading Page" then the message about the Sony Store being closed the kicks out. I get the same msg for Purchased Content and Google Books.

When I look at the Wi-Fi Network Settings it show Invalid Configuration for that deice.

Pretty much any thing I try to do involving the network gets the Sony Store closed msg.

Trying to connect so I can download more books.

Dont want to have to by a new Reader.

Additional dictionaries

Hey!

I am still using the Sony PRS-T1 reader and very content with it. The only thing for me that has to be improved is the availability of dictionaries.
Is there any way to add other ones that can be used like the preinstalled? I'd like to have a French-French dictionary, like the New Oxford American Dictionary. Is it possible?
And another question, I know that the answer is probably no, but I'd like to ask anyway: I've heard of the vocabulary-test function of the Amazon Kindle. Is there any reader software that can be installed with a similar functionality? That the reader remembers the words I looked up and I can learn them later?

Loading docs to DPT-S1 without physical connection

Any ideas on loading documents onto the device without physically connecting to my desktop computer with a USB cable?

I have seen discussions about the Sharefile service but it looks like most people cannot get this to work plus it costs $$

Has anyone been able to connect the DPT to a free service like dropbox?

I have also seen discussions about using network drives. This seems to be a way to go. I have an old one that I have not used in years but I would be willing to fire it up if it seemed promising. If you have made this work, I would be interested in your experience doing it.

Any other possible ways to do this?

Hi! Sorry for my english.

One week ago the ereader fall from the sofa (A little height) and get stucked in the wallpaper.

I tried soft reset but doesn´t work, when i connect to PC, Only recognizes it for three seconds and dissapear.

Is it possible that the screen is broken? But why didn't appears in pc?

I own the Japanese model of the Sony PRS-T1.

Out of the box it was on original firmware 1.0.00.10050. Completely unstable, freezed randomly while reading or browsing the web, not usable.

Therefore I upgraded to the original Japanese firmware 3.1.00.18240. Behaviour has not improved noticeably.

So now I want to root the thing and switch to Android.

I do not know if this is imortant, but as a side note, I speak only little Japanese and want an Android in english.

I have tried to understand the information at these two pages [1][2]. Although I made several concentrated attempts, I simply do not understand most of it!

My main questions are:
  1. Is it even possible to change the Japanese (!) version of the Sony PRS-T1, which is currently on the original Japanese firmware 3.1.00.18240, to Android, yes or no?
  2. If it is possible, how can I do this?

PRS-T2 Firmware updater: bypass version checks?

Hello!
I recently purchased a PRS-T2 (European version) with firmware 1.0.04.11081... and, obviously, immediately tried to root it. However, it seems locked.

I seem to have found a way to bypass version and model checks in PRS-T2_UPDATER_*.EXE but... now I am stuck again:
- Re-installing 1.0.04.11081 (whether EN or US) works, but doesn't allow jailbreaking.
- Actual downgrading seems to work at first, but displays an error message after automatically rebooting the device.

I guess a second set of version or checksum verifications is happening on-device; any thoughts?


Here is the method I used:

1. Do not run the executable; instead, unpack it with 7zip.

2. Edit "PRS-T2_UPDATER_*\eBookUpdater\scripts\updater.xml" :
Remove "// check model name and is specified revision as well" and the following 4 lines.
Remove "if (this.isNewerOrEqualVersion(version)) {" and the following 5 lines.
Don't touch the next few lines (Starting with "this.") but remove the two lines containing only "}".

3. Launch upgrade using "PRS-T2_UPDATER\Reader Updater.exe"!

PRS-950 Problem with Sony PRS-950 screen

After replacing broken screen in my Sony PRS-950 (screen model: LB071WS1-RD02), it doesn't work properly. It show text from right to left with "mirroring" , so I must use mirror to read what is on the screen . I've downloaded from web Sony's official service manual, it says, that after replacing such part as screen, I should re-enter Vcom and LUT (from the label of new screen) in "test mode". To enter "test mode" there is a need to put file to the reader. I've tried to find this file with no success. Service manual says : "Note:Confirm the method of obtaining the file for test mode to each ser-vice headquarters". But Sony give no answer for my inquiry. If somebody have an experience of replacing screen in PRS-950 or can advise how to obtain file for test mode/enter Vcom, LUT please, help me!

DPT-S1 Entering searchable text into handwritten notes

I want to use the Sony DPT-S1 as a lab notebook and it would be great to enter some searchable keywords for each entry along with my handwritten notes.

I entered a typed in textbox (I think Sony calls it sticky note) with some terms. I could not find any of the terms when I did a search on the DPT.

However when I exported the pdf notebook to my desktop, opened the file with PDF-Xchange Viewer, and did a search for one of the words, it was able to find the Note. It appears as a Comment in the pdf document.

So this is an FYI but also a question. Are there alternate ways to do this that are searchable on the DPT tablet itself?

PRS-350 PRS350 Fell in Water, All Works, but 1 Issue

My Prs-350 fell into lake water this summer. A hairdryer/rice treatment helped dry the device, and, to my surprise, it "works"! The only issue is it developed a small quirk: the five physical buttons do not function unless pressed simultaneously with the power switch. For instance, to bring up OPTIONS during book reading I have to press OPTIONS button while briefly sliding the POWER switch, which puts Reader in sleep mode; next sliding Power switch reveals the OPTIONS menu. This applies to all five buttons. A little annoying, but I can live with it, considering I was convinced the reader could not be resurrected.

Question: Is there a way to restore the original functionality to the buttons (without the need to use the power switch)?

I've done soft resets, hard resets, and installed PRS+, but the issue persists.

PRS-T3 PRS T3 Crashing every now and then

Hi guys, I'm new here. Sorry if these has been asked before. My PRS T3 has been crashing lately.
What I mean is that I'm reading a book then it will crash to the home screen again and again. Also while in this state, the buttons won't work. Every now and then I'm pressing the menu button while reading. If the menu appears, it's okay. But soon if I press the button and nothing appears, I know it will crash soon. I think this is RAM related.

While I'm in the home screen in the "Crashed" state, choosing other menus: bookshelves, settings etc. will let me access that page but if I let it be for a few seconds, it would crash to the main screen again.

Temporary solution that I have found is turning it off/ letting it be idle for a long while then using it again. But it always have this issue.

Can someone help me how to fix this? I'm using the final update btw.
Please help, I love this more than my pw3

EDIT: I also encounter the "Home Application stopped unexpectedly" issue

PRS-T1 Rooted T1 touchscreen

Hi all,

I know the PRS-T1 is a relatively old device, but I love mine. I use it all the time and don't see the need to upgrade, as it reads books fine. I really want the most slimmed down version possible. I don't need wifi, and I don't want touchscreen, (or the dictionary).

I go camping a fair bit, and whenever I bust out the reader, I tend to get little midgies and whatever attracted to the light reflected off the screen. They walk across it, causing the pages to turn. It's really annoying.

If I root my device, can I turn off this functionality?

I'm just after a bare bones device that I can read a book on, and physically push a button to turn pages.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello. I need help. I know this is and old reader but I hope someone here can still help me fix it.
I fear I brick my reader when trying to root it using Rootset-Mynimo-B3 from here : http://www.mediafire.com/download/g1...imo-B3Home.zip

Well, the reader reboot himself buit when it got back I have the persistent message "Sorry! The application Home has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." and it gives me the option to force close nut when I press it it just comes back on a on. I can see the wifi icon on standby, the battery and, when I connect the reader to the PC, I also can see the usb status icon with "connect" and "disconnected" when I put the cable on or remove it.

The thing is I can't reach any other option in order to soft or hard reset the reader and I can't connect via data tranfer to the PC to restore or do anything. I tried to hard reset by doing the next page and back buttons pressing but since I can´t load the Home Screen I can't seem to do anything with the button secuence.

I really hope someone can help me. I just reacieved the reader and can't affort any other one. Thank you very much and excuse my poor english. :help:

Prs-505 Uninstaller program help

Does anyone have the program uninstaller_505.exe which fixes a problem with the Sony PRS-505.

I have been playing around with firmware (silly of me I know) and have got in a right pickle. I can't even remember what I did but now I now get the message 'Firmware update did not complete successfully. Please try again' when I switch the reader on.

I have read about this problem in an old message in this forum and someone refers to this site for a program to fix this

Does anyone have this lying around please so that I can get my beloved reader working again?

Anyone else having trouble using Overdrive on a Sony reader?

I posted about in the ongoing Overdrive thread in case this was a general problem with Overdrive, but nobody else has posted about it so I guess not. I thought I'd try in the Sony forum in case this is a Sony-specific issue.

A few days ago I tried using the new Overdrive on my Sony reader and it worked OK - I was able to log in and view my wishlist.

Here's what started yesterday:

When I entered my password and tapped to sign in, the status bar at the top would get most of the way across and then I would get booted out of the browser altogether - it would send me back to page 2 of the reader's main menu. This happened repeatedly.

I tried googling the library (on the reader). When I clicked on the search result for the library's home page, I got booted out of the browser again.

I tried googling again and one of the search results was a link to the library's Advanced Search page. I clicked on that link and it came up ok. From that page, I clicked sign in, it let me sign in and returned me to the Advanced Search page. I was able to click My Account, but when I selected Wishlist I got booted out of the browser again.

I reopened browser and used the history listings to go back to the Advanced Search page. Found I was still signed in. Clicking on the bookshelf icon got me booted out of the browser again.

Went back in via Advanced Search, then the library's menu button, then subjects, selected a subject and was able to see some books. From that page, I clicked on the bookshelf icon and got booted out of the browser again.

I ccould search and browse and access my account settings, but if I tried to access my loans, holds, or wishlist, I got booted out.

As of today it's showing me as still signed in, and I can't sign out - when I try it boots me out of the browser again.

PRS-T1 Firefox Android on rooted Sony T1, is it possible? Which version?

I have a Sony reader PRS-T1 which I rooted to Android, version numbers below.

I want to install Firefox on this thing.

Did anyone have any luck? Which apk (version, URL) did you use? Is the 40 MB limit even enough to install the thing before moving it? What did you use to move it?

How to downgrade the Sony PRS-T2 firmware?

I have a Sony PRS-T2. It was updated to the latest firmware (1.1.00.17210), so I cannot root it.

I was wondering if you knew any way in which I could install an older firmware version so I can be able to root it. I have tried a factory reset, but it doesn't work.

PRS-T1 battery problem - any suggestions?

So my PRS-T1 seems to have died.

I was reading on it before bed, noticed the battery was just about dead, so I put it on the charger over night. Next morning the battery symbol says it is 100% but whenever I try to use it it flashes up a message saying "no power on battery, network setting turned off, try recharging before using again" and then it shuts down.

I've tried resetting it both while it is unplugged and also while plugged into the charger, tried charging it again, tried using it while it is plugged in..........all to no avail.

Before stumping up a new ereader, I thought I'd try the collective wisdom of MR. Anyone had this problem? Anyone found a solution? Any suggestions at all?
