PRS-T1 New T-1 and DRM/Adobe DE

So I went on my Computer to my Library to check out a book. The book downloaded okay to my computer. I noticed that my ADE 3.0 said that, while my computer was authorized, I could only read this book on my computer.

Well then I said to self, how do I authorize my new T-1? Reading a few posts, I learned needed to install Reader Library. But I'm now in a campground with poor WiFi, so my computer could not complete download of the Reader Library software. So I guess try later.

Is this correct? Only Reader Library software installation will authorize a Sony Reader with Adobe for DRM purposes? Seems funny to do this since the Sony store no longer exists.

I had an Adobe account long time ago on a long since dead computer for my 650 reader. Now I have a new computer. Is there a way to retrieve the old account info? Or can I set up a new account and start over? Most confusing huh?

Hey everybody,
For all those lovers of sony ereaders ...............
I have a PRS t1 and I want to root it (now thats in the nicest way !):eek:

I have tried a few things already so you may as well know the sad story....

Firstly, I have v1.0.04.12210 and it is proving to be a stubborn bugger to update.
When I try the official 1.0.5.11130 it gets upset on the 2nd reboot and wont complete.
I have tried extracting the folder to the reader and tried to install it from the reader but NO.
I really wanted to get rupors minimal root as this was the most recent and I liked the 3rd page feature but I tried Borodas first as I had the 1.0.4 version and the apk files seemed to be installed but I couldnt access the Android features i.e.. it seemed like it wasnt rooted at all.

I have gone back to stock settings after having all sorts of trouble with USB not being recognized etc..
Anyway this is how the story is going........................

trouble with PRS-950

A strange problem has occurred with my PRS-950.

It all started after the last epub I sent to it from calibre. I noticed it was taking a very long time to load up, with the circular arrows displaying on the screen.

I thought I'd enter calibre again and delete this epub from my device, figuring maybe the formatting was bad.

Well, lo and behold, the device will not mount and is not recognized anymore. Not only that, but I can't seem to charge it from an electric socket either.

I have tried two separate USB cords so I know it's not a defect in the connector.

Right now I can still use the reader. I can switch between books and read. But I can't get it to charge or to mount on my PC, and the battery is quickly running out.

When I plug my reader in to charge, I don't get the lightning bolt to show charging; instead I see a steady red light displaying near the power switch.

I have tried soft reset with paper reclip and restart but nothing has changed.

any idea what could have gone wrong and how I can access my reader again without needing to resort to a hard reset?

appreciate your help in fixing this!

sony PRS-950 annotations question

I'm wondering if a utility has been made yet that will allow one to extract highlights longer than 200 characters?

I found the application "noteworks" and gave it a try - not sure if it is restricted by the limit or not, but I couldn't get it to even load the list of ebooks from my reader.

if no utility was ever made that can do this, can anyone recommend a work around, for longer highlighted passages that one wants to preserve in a file on one's PC, before deleting the book from one's reader?

PRS T1 Bricked (Not as usual)

Eventually, my prs t1 is just bricked like everyone ;)

The version I had was 1.05 and I tried to upgrade it to 1.07.
Somehow the upgrade process did not complete since then, it is just bricked...

The problem I have is below,

1. The orange light flashing no matter what I do.
2. The device does not respond.. The screen is just blank and the power button does not work
3. No USB connection at all. The PC does not recognize the PRS T1 either and again screen is just blank..

I have tried micro SD card rescue but as long as the device shows blank screen and yellow light flashing.. There is not much I can do about that.


Does anyone has the same problem as me?

Dropped PRS-505

I dropped my PRS-505. It was in a case and there is no external damage, but the screen is scrambled with what should be on the left on the right, and vice versa, and other corruption. Apart from that it seems to work normally.

Does this means that it is actually smashed? or does it means that a connector has come unseated inside or something like that?

I can't see anything on the screen that looks like a crack or anything.

PRS-T1 A charging problem

Recently my wife's PRS T1 needed recharging. However, whatever I tried to do - three different wall chargers and a PC - was to no avail; there was no sign of life and no charging light on the base. I was just considering trying to open the case and look at the USB socket when, as a last desperate resort, I tried the reset method where you use a paperclip to press the switch in the little hole in the base whilst simultaneously pressing the power button. And it worked - the power light appeared!

Has anyone ever had a similar problem?

PRS-T1 Rooted - Always Resetting Modified Reader & Total Commander after Restarting

I've just realised this after quite some time. I rooted my T1 with rupor's and installed morkl's modified reader to reduce page flashing. Everytime I restart the device though, the reader goes back to the old one, and if I want modified reader again I need to install the apk back.

I notice other than that, my internal associations of file in Total Commander's also lost, I now put them back anytime I restart it.

I remember it's working okay a long time ago though, so maybe I did something wrong somewhere when I open it in my PC?

It's not a really big problem but it does pretty annoying to do it everytime I restart the device.

Just got a new Sony Digital Paper_DPT-S1!!

Hi all,

I just had to express myself here. I just opened up a new Sony Digital Paper_DPT-S1 yesterday and it has been a long time since I have been excited about a new piece of technology, but this one I am. I am looking forward to catching up on years worth of PDF's collecting digital dust on my hard drives.

I still do not have it connected successfully to Box.com and boy is this thing fragile. In my engineering world this reader could bend in a moment. And I definitely can't carry it in a backpack with the existing sleeve. I am thinking of making a thin hardwood sleeve for transporting it, or maybe finding a hard plastic shell somewhere. Has anyone done anything like this?

Japanese speakers: Could you ask SONY about the S/W update?

It's past half a year know, I think, and SONY still hasn't published the firmware update for the US version of the DPT-S1. I'm worried that with the probably EOL of the DPT-S1 even the last bit of US development will cease and we'll be stuck with the old firmware *dramatic pause* for-ever.

That said, I'd like to repeat my request that someone capable of speaking Japanese contact SONY JP and ask about what possibilities there are and whether we could get that update!

Hi

Please help me to resolve ths probleme :

My Reader Sony prst-1 stop suddently in "the opening book" and I was try to restart it many times but toujours le pboblème persiste..

le problème encore qu'il ne veux pas se recharger que quelque minutes ensuite le bouton rouge s'éteint .

j'ai essayer de le réinitialiser mais le problème persiste toujours et quand je le branche avec le pc il ne le reconnait pas

PRS-T1 having 'The application content manager has stopped unexpectedly.'

for the last 2 days, when I turn on my reader, I've been getting 'The application content manager has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.' This happens right when the reader is loaded and into the home page. Now I can not even charge it nor connect it to the computer.

It stared when I was updating my reader with new boxes. But I always format memory before I re-load my new ebook collection. I usually transfer about 1,000 - 2,000.

I have tried to reset it with a pin. Restore defaults. I even tried to hard reset it but it won't work as once the reader loads into the homepage, that message pops up.

Please help, I'm dying here without my reader.

PRS-T1 Home menu buttons are not correct

Hi folks,

after root on my Sony PRS T1 I see on my home menu buttons not the correct titles.

My language is german, but on the buttons I see a.e. Frankreich, nach Datum nach Titel etc. Something is wrong with the translate on the buttons in german.
Does anybody can help me ?

PRS-T3 Problems after corrupt/ booby trapped Epub

Hi all.
I am having problems with my PRS-T3S and wonder if anyone here has experienced similar or can shed some light. The reader is only some 15 months old

Shortly after loading and deleting what turned out to be a corrupt Epub, the reader then, out of the blue, appeared to be continuously discharging the battery over a period of 4 days even when totally shut down. (I was getting 14/21 days immediately previously).
Thinking it was a dud battery, maybe from being on the dealer shelf or a demo model for a long time, I replaced it.

The problem has remained exactly the same. I doubt now it is just a battery problem as the recharging time has not shortened.

I then did a re format of the internal memory plus a soft (paperclip) reset then a full factory boot hard reset.

Nothing has helped.

It has the latest firmware 1.1.01.17210 and in case it had become corrupt I tried to re install, but neither direct or via the PC updater will do an overwrite / update just saying the reader has the latest version.

Anybody know how I can force the firmware to be refreshed?

????? any other ideas???

PRS-T3 Where to get Sony desktop reader?

My laptop is dying, and I am in process of setting up a replacement laptop.

I've had the first laptop for several years, and have forgotten how I set it up to load and use the Sony desktop reader. And because I use calibre and made friends with Apprentice Alf some time ago I rarely need to bother with DRM.

Now that Sony no longer supports 6" desktops is there any way I can get the Sony desktop reader to install on my new laptop? I have a Sony T1, T2, and T3 if that helps.

I could use the Adobe Digital Editions software if I had to, but I'm old and set in my ways and would prefer to use the Sony desktop reader.

Store has two Sony Reader's NIB - should I buy one?

Hey there!

There's a store not too many miles from me that's selling two Sony Reader Pocket Edition's in Silver, new in the box. From what I could look up on the internet, I don't know if it's the PRS-300 or 350. I want to think it's the 350. They've been on clearance for $79, but I think I could get them to go lower. Should I buy one or is it not a good buy at this point?

I just found a service on taobao.com that DPT-S1 can be unlock into an android ereader. Very interesting.
