DPT S1 after sync with dav, i lost all the notes i made in 2020

Hi, I set my sony dpt S1 with one of the webdav server.
I set my note as "net work drive".
And this year I didn't sync it, because i alwasy at home.
So in my netdrive I have nothing new in 2020.
And today i want to do the syncwork（i don't know what am I thinking）, but after that, all my 2020 notes dispeared....
I use the usb line connect to my mac, and checked all the hiden file in S1 but didn't find my lost notes.
Now i didn't what to do, can i still find them?

I have two Sony 505s in storage that I purchased back in 2009 (I think it was).

They still held a charge a few years ago.

Serious question: Are they any good for anything now, going on 12 years later?

I bought my Sony Reader PRS-65 about ten years ago and I had used it for more than 7 years. It was a great pity for me that the battery of this device was dying slowly off in 2017 and in 2018 it lay totally dead. That means, it could never be started again or recharged. The books I had loaded into the device have been backed up all the time. There is no loss of books by me. But the tons of notes I have made in the device just go missing. I forgot to export the notes when the device could still be connected with my computer. Now the device can never be used again and the old computer in Windows XP with which I have been handling with the Sony Reader things doesn't function very well currently and I just put it in my hometown. I guess the books which I copied directly from the folders inside the device and saved in my new computer should still contain the notes. But the problem is that I cannot install the Reader Library in my new computer in Win 10 because this software is terribly old. My dear friends, is it possible for me to get the notes back with my new computer?

Background grid lines in Quarderno A4

I bought a fujitsu quarderno A4, which is the same as the sony dpt-rp1.
The problem is that the background is not white (or gray). Actually there is a background grid of lines in all the screen. Is this a production problem? I there any way to remove them ? I like the device and I don't want to return it but with those lines it is not usable for me.

BookDesigner help please

I am sorry if this is not the right place to ask this. I have a very slow internet service and so cannot look through all the pages to find the answer.

I am using BookDesgner 5 to format my books to lrf for my Sony PRS-505. I have been happily using this with Windows 7 but now have been forced to upgrade to Windows 10. I have installed BookDesigner but when I load one of my Word rtf files (always used previously) I get an error when it gets to the 'making basic transformations' stage saying that the transformation has failed.

Can anyone help please? I know this is old software but I love the lrf as it gives a proper page number relating to the screen and so do not want to go to epub.

PRS-T2 Are there power charger spec limits?

I've recently gotten a power outlet USB charger adapter that is 5V/3A.

I know the T2 came with a 5V/1A adapter. Does the extra amperage pose a danger or does the reader only draw what it needs?

I've seen different explanations on the net with regard to different devices, but it would be nice to be sure.

Does anyone still have the update file for the sony reader prs950 that refers to 2.0.00.11300? I have looked for it everywhere and it has been impossible to find it any help I appreciate, it is not on the official page :(

PRS-650 Parts of pages missing

I have an interesting dilemma that I could not find the answer to so I started a new thread. I am new to this forum so I do apologize in advance if the answer is here and I just didn't see it. Ok my problem, on my PRS-650 when reading this particular book I am using the L size font. When I change to the next page you can tell that the flow of the story has been disrupted as it doesn't make sense. I have to reduce the font size down to M and find where I turned teh page and then the missing lines are there. My question is why does this happen. Sometimes it can be upwards of a paragraph it is kind of annoying and I would leave the font at M but the size is a bit small for me and L works best. The book is in Epub format. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated I have attached the book I am currently reading

Hi,i have troubles updating PRS-650 firmware,starts nicely,then after first reboot and short updating files (note on ereader screen),it reboots again,and goes into library mode,then i get message,that update wasnt sucessful.I have suspicion,it might be related to russification version 1.05k from porkupan(boroda),i have on my ereader.Or maybe not...
Anyway,wasnt there back in days way to flash PRS-650 via memory stick?(dont have any,are they still avaylable)?Was it super hard?

PRS-300 Deleting Books from PRS-300SC without Calibre

Hey Everyone,

I know that this may not be the best place for this question it being part Calibre and part Sony Reader but hopefully someone familiar with the workings of both can try to answer my question.

I'm using a Sony PRS-300SC I recently bought and the details of my particular problem are too complicated and long winded to go into details about. In short I'm having problems involving my battery or batteries (after multiple replacements) and since the return window is still open on the product I wanted to send it back for a refund. Unfortunetely when I first got the reader and the original battery managed to stay charged for less then a minute I managed to load several books onto the reader.

In order to send it back I need to remove the books I loaded onto it but the device won't stay on long enough to get to the main screen or even complete a hard reset. Worse even though the reader successfully connects to the computer via usb cord and I see the reader contents in the file explorer calibre will not connect anymore to the device and I get an error message instead that calibre support disclosed to me revolves around a failing device or a bad usb connection and/or port. Even a soft reset of the device with the button hole does nothing.

My question is if there is a way to delete the books stored in the reader without calibre or a similar program perhaps just through the file explorer? I know from previous posts that the person shouldn't even think about messing around with the file explorer contents of the reader but at this point I'm running out of options and a shrinking return window. I have ordered a third replacement battery in the meantime in order to try and get a long enough charge to complete a wipe.

Any input by the community would be greatly appreciated.

PRS-300 Firmware options

I recently repaired my PRS-300 and I've been wondering about custom firmware options. For the past week or so, I've been looking into it, but I think by virtue of this being a twelve year old device, a lot of the info online is hard to find or obviously outdated

The mobileread wiki (which appears to be updated very rarely in many cases, much less this one) claims that there is an alternate reader program available called "ebook applications", but the link no longer goes to whatever it used to. I also couldn't find information on what prs+ can do, or even if it works on the 300. Can anyone help me?

PRS-300 Invalid page error

It looks like some older readers, including the prs-300, cannot load books if they have chapters above a certain length or themselves are above a certain length.

Is there a fix for this? it doesn't seem that prs+ modifies this behavior at all. Is it a memory issue? should I just give up and buy a modern ereader?

PRS-505 Missing fonts when zoomed in

I still have an ancient Sony PRS-505 and been using it for my light readings which don't involve heavy graphics, high-res images etc. Recently, I've stumbled upon some pdf files which aren't formatted with utf-8 so when viewed with PRS-505, the texts were missing some accented letters. I've followed some guides in the devs corner and managed to embed local fonts into the device. Now it seems to be working fine thanks to the hard work of the devs :thanks: But... when I zoom in the pdf files using the magnifier button, the magnified text are still missing some of the non-western letters, small view seems to be working just fine. I've been through the threads all day but couldn't find an answer to my specific problem. I know the device is ancient but the build quality is superb so I don't want to give up on it while it still works. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think it was there before.

I might go here and download the firmware for the various Sony Readers before this link disappears.

EDIT: Looks like there are only firmware updaters for the PRS-350, PRS-650 and PRS-950, but at least that's something. I'm guessing these are U.S. firmware releases?

Hi. I have searched for a resolution on this for a while and didn't find any that worked for me.

I have an old Sony PRS-T1 that I stopped using years ago because I didn't have much time to read. Now I want to use it again. I know, it is old. But the reader is in good shape. So I thought why spend money on a new reader?

The device itself works fine. Battery seems ok. I can download drm-free ebooks via drag and drop from Finder no issues. My problem is for DRM ebooks.

To download ebooks with drm (Adobe) I must use either the Sony Reader app or Adobe Digital Edition. The issue is none of the applications see my reader. The Mac sees it, I can drag and drop files via the usb connection, but these 2 apps, they don't see/connect to the reader.

I tried it on mac os x 10.11 (el capitan) and 10.15 (catalina).

So I though I would give it a try on this forum just in case someone else got similar issues and has a resolution for this.

PRS-T1 Public Library

Hi

I have a old Sony PRS-T1 works great except for being able to borrow e books from the public library. Are there any work arounds yet ? Any way to change the operating system or update it somehow to allow this a gain ? I can down load and transfer from "other" sites just not the library.

PRS-650 Script to produce better sizes for custom fonts

Below are details of my script to generate custom CSS to make sure custom fonts all appear at around the same size when used to view books. Without this script some fonts appear much bigger than others.

I use this with PRS-650, but it probably applies to most Sony Readers and perhaps some other eReaders. Get in touch if you have an idea how it can apply to other eReaders.

It was written back in 2017 but I thought I'd revitalise it with its own thread.

Check requirements and dependencies at top of source code.

Run from the command line without any arguments.

Script should be alongside the folders of font families in /READER/fonts

One custom CSS file for each font family is written to /READER/database/system/PRSPlus/epub/

how does it work?
Using a python command line tool called font-line: I get the Ascender+Descender sum from the font metrics, and divide 1 by that number. This normalises the values to make the larger fonts smaller and smaller fonts larger. Then I just write that data into the CSS in the required format.

plugin?
Previously it had been asked if this could be a Calibre plugin but I don't think it's suited to that. Firstly: it does not operate on epub files, and secondly: it would need to be rewritten in Python (I have no interest in doing that).

This epub's images are not showing on PRS-T1 - any idea why?

I have a Sony PRS-T1 with the latest update 1.0.07.05070.

When viewing this epub, none of the images show up.

I assume this is some quirk of the Adobe Digital Editions version used on the device, but I can't figure out how to fix the formatting to make them show up.

Can anyone tell what's wrong? Is this because they are too large, or some weird CSS used?
