Kobo Books Not Loading on my Sony.
Last two Kobo books I bought have failed to download into my Sony eBook App. Instead of showing the book cover like all Sony and past Kobo books did in the Sony eBook app on my laptop, it now shows a square with an image of an open book but when I attempt to open it I get a failed to download message.
Is this because Kobo no longer supports the Sony?

How to get my T1 up to date again
Hi,
my T1 is working just fine, except downloading my newspaper has stopped working because the trusted https root-certifcates appears to have grown outdated.
So somehow i want to update my T1, either:
- inject uptodate root-certs
- or install some custom rom
However, the instructions to do so seems to be outdated as well. Links not working, manuals dating from 2012, conflicting instructions, what you have it.
Is there any good advice around how to re-vitalise my T1?

PRS-T1 Memory formatting
Yesterday, my PRS-T1 had some kind of catastrophic crash. I reset it to factor defaults but can't put any books on it.
Calibre gives me the following error:

missing pieces in book
I was reading a book I downloaded and suddenly there were pieces missing.
When I open the book on my PC, the whole text is there.
I tried downloading it again but again pieces are missing.
It's always at the end of a chapter.
The sentence ends abrubtly, next page starts a new chapter.
I finished the book and went on PC to find the missing parts.
Now there is a second book in this series and I wonder if the same problem will occur.
It never happened before.
Anyone had this?

Transfer from eReader to Calibre
Dead iMac, bought new and lost all the books in Calibre. Want to know how to transfer from Sony eReader to Calibre. Have read many answers but they all relate to a *right click* option which isn't available to iMac. Would appreciate if anyone can help me with this. Many thanks

Export annotations with context from PRS-T1?
I've seen that using both the Reader desktop app, and the calibre plugins, you can export all of the annotations from an epub from a Sony PSR-T1 reader.
The problem is, I'm proofreading a manuscript for someone else, and I'd like to be able to give them the list of annotations and have them find what it's referring to. If I highlight one word and write a note, then the exported annotations list just contains that one word, which might occur multiple times on the page, and is hard for the reader to find.
So if I have "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog", and I have a note on "jumped", right now I see "Page: 1, highlighted: jumped, note:...".
What I want is "Page: 1, highlighted: brown fox *jumped* over the, note..." i.e. see some words surrounding the highlighting so the reader can find it in the text easily.
i've looked in the Sqlite3 .db file, and there seems to be a binary blob storing the position in the epub, but I don't know how to decode it.

HELP! PRS-T1 Opening book loop...
So my PRS-T1 sat unused for quite awhile and I recently dug it out. Battery was flat dead, and when I recharged it, things were fine. Like an idiot, i decided to check if any updates were available and installed. About a week later, I'm stuck in this opening book loop, where the status bar doesn't move, and then the screen flashes white, just to land on the same page, and repeats over and over. I thought that maybe the battery was borked, so I've installed and charged a fresh one, and still the same. I've tried to follow up on restore/rescue options, but I'm rather confused. The latest rescue SD seems to be for 1.0.04, and thats not even available anymore... I've downloaded an image of a clean 1.0.07 install, but I have no clue what to do with it..
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try to bring this thing back to life?

PRS-505 New Charger Needed
A couple of days ago I took a look at my old Sony prs 505 because I wanted to move one of the books onto my pc to convert to azw3 for my kindle. The Sony had a big exclamation mark on the screen and the words "No Battery!" written at the bottom.
Naturally, I did a very loonngg mains charge using the original Sony charger, but this has done nothing. No charging lights came on. So, before purchasing a new battery and twisting the arms of a techie friend, I wondered if my pc would recognise the reader anyway, allowing me to offload the books. The moment I put its usb cord into the computer the charging light came on! :)
I know from reading posts from years back that charging from a computer is inefficient, especially as I was thinking of snoozing soon (yes, I keep odd hours) so :bulb2: I need a new charger.
I took a quick look online, but decided to ask the helpful folk here where would be the best place to get the type of charger Sony used to make . . . you know, the type with a block and barrel. Most of those I found seemed to be standard mains usb chargers.
Please bear in mind I'm in the UK and we don't have Walmarts etc. If anyone has a working one they are prepared to sell, please let me know.
If this post is in the wrong dept, please move it to the marketplace. I wasn't sure whether it was a "help me with my sick 505" or a "where can I buy a suitable charger?" or "does anyone have one to sell."

Sony DPT-RP1 (non-flip) case recommendations
Hi, has anyone tried a protective case that is not of the flip cover variety? If so, what can you recommend? Either a case that covers the edges of the device, or a sleeve would be fine, or anything that does not need to be flipped to open (just my personal preference). Anyone?

Sony DPT-CP1 sleeve recommendations
I just ordered a DPT-CP1 to replace my DPT-S1 (found ppi too low after using tablet for a while). I loved the original DPT-S1 sleeve, which had a horizontal, opening, some rigidity while still being ultralight and held the device in place through having mild tension.
Does anyone have sleeve recommendations? Ideally a nonzipper horizontal like the original DPT-S1 sleeve, though other configurations could work. I do not need any space for the pen. Thanks.

Need to Downgrade Firmware on Sony PRS-T1
Okay, I had two Sony PRS-T1. I never updated them or did anything with them other than manually copy books on it and read. They worked great and were my favorite ereaders! Then my boyfriend got the brilliant idea to update them to 1.0.07.05070 They both now crash nonstop. It works for a bit then freezes and I have to cold or hard restart. Funny enough it's not the just the dictionary or any one thing. I can use all the features until it just decides they've had enough. Suddenly hitting the home button crashes it. I tried googling it and trying some fixes in 2016. It didn't work.
Luckily I found another Sony PRS-T1 for a steal. Never been opened! Works perfectly! It's running version 1.0.04.12210 I make sure to never use the wifi on it and I am so paranoid of it randomly upgrading I only load books on it with my internet off on my computer.
So my other two readers are useless and I'm starting to get brave and want to try and downgrade them. I've been looking hard on here to see what other people have done. It's been a bit confusing. My linux experience has been a one time install on one of my old computers. Using linux seems to be the number one way to downgrade the Sony PRS-T1. I was hoping there might be way to do it with really good instructions? Or a way on windows 10 to do it? Or if anyone just has some advice. It breaks my heart that I can't use my favorite readers. I just can't seem to move on I've bought some kindles and finally caved and got a kobo just recently. The only advantage they have over my sony is the magical backlighting.

I'm looking for the 1.1xxxx firmware updater for a PRS-505. This is the first one I've run into that didn't have that update and the reader can't see ePubs.

PRS-T2 Reset VCOM or go into test mode

I bought a new screen to repair a cracked screen T2. With the help of a YouTube video I managed to take it apart replace the screen and get it back into one piece. The reader works normally apart from the screen does not refresh properly, words from the previous page show as pale shadows.
I have read posts elsewhere that indicate this is because the new screen is a different voltage to the original and I have read how to alter VCOM in the service manual. However I need a file to copy onto the reader to put it into "test mode". The service manual does not even say what the name of this file is.
Does anyone know where to get this file or an alternate method to set VCOM on a PRS-T2?

hi, i just buy a cheap PRS-300 and restore it to default. after that i connect it to my pc using a regular usb cable (because i did not find the original usb) but it dont get recognize by my PC. it shows this screen and i do not know what to do.

Getting all book info to show in Reader for PC on new computer?
I recently got a new Windows 10 PC to replace my old Windows 7 PC. My ebooks got copied on to the new computer but when I imported them into Reader for PC only a handful of them (mostly public domain books from Gutenberg) show the cover pictures or the author's name or publisher in the columns where that info is supposed to be.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so, did you find a way to get the author names to show up?
I've tried opening a few of the books. This does cause the covers to appear but the author's name still doesn't show up.

PRS-T2 Possible?
Is it possible to install the Kindle app on the T2? Reason for asking is I recently discovered that I could install the same app on my phone, laptop, and desktop computer and none of the devices had ever had the app installed. After installation, could read ANY Kindle title with ease. So the question. :chinscratch:
